The Carpenters were a vocal and instrumental duo, consisting of two siblings Karen and Richard Carpenter. With characteristic harmony pop music, they managed to record a number of the most popular recordings in the American Top 40, and became a leading figure of the genre of soft rock or adult contemporary and occupying one of the most prominent among the recording artists of the decade.
